I haven't written for fun in a long time.
Granted, I am a journalist and I always say how much I love my job since it's work that doesn't really feel like work, but I have also been in graduate school since May 2010. I am ready to be done.
My graduate school career is now culminating in a thesis about how strangers develop friendships through the internet -- friendships that are sometimes deeper and more meaningful than ones in "real life." It's something that takes a lot of time, brainpower and overall energy. I'm on page 34.
Needless to say, writing is not something that is lacking in my life at the moment. But reflection is. I miss writing in a way that allows my thoughts and feelings to be dumped onto a page, only to be gathered up in a neat little pile called meditation. I can process. I can imagine. I can breathe.
So here it is. My computer-mediated landfill. I hope it doesn't stink.
